UPI reported on Syracuse University’s announcement of a partnership to advance the use of biofuels by the U.S. armed forces as an alternative energy source. Gina Lee-Glauser, vice president for research at SU, is quoted in the article. briefly previewed Remembrance Week events including tonight’s candlelight vigil to remember those who died in the 1988 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, and Remembrance Scholars camping on the Quad.


Grant Reeher, professor of political science in the Maxwell School, is quoted in a Fox News story about campaign strategies for voter turnout during the final two weeks before midterm elections across the nation. Reeher is also quoted in a WWOR-TV (N.J.) report about Monday’s seven-way debate of New York gubernatorial candidates.

Keith Bybee, the Paul E. and the Hon. Joanne F. Alper ‘72 Judiciary Studies Professor at the College of Law, and director of the Institute for the Study of the Judiciary, Politics and the Media, authored an op-ed in Jurist on judicial ethics and judicial legitimacy relative to appearances of impropriety.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, is quoted in a San Francisco Chronicle article about the scandal over banks mishandling the processing of foreclosures.

Michael Wasylenko, professor of economics in the Maxwell School, commented for WSYR-TV (view video clip) report on rising gas prices in Central New York.
