WSYR-AM, the Utica Observer-Dispatch and the Post-Standard reported on the kickoff of the 2010 Syracuse International Film Festival. Owen Shapiro, Shaffer Professor of Film in the Department of Transmedia in the College of Visual and Performing Arts, commented on the wider-spread reach of Central New York venues for this year’s films. WSYR-TV also reported on the SIFF reception with Vincent Pastore. previewed the appearance by “Flags of Our Fathers” author James Bradley as part of Orange Central. briefly reported on the creation of the Great Lakes Guitar Society, headed by Kenneth Meyer, part-time assistant professor of music in the College of Visual and Performing Arts.


USA Today and the Toronto Star quoted Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, on the news coverage of the rescue of the Chilean miners. He was also quoted in the Christian Science Monitor on the dwindling television audience for soap operas.

Rebecca Bader, assistant professor of biomedical and chemical engineering in the L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science, is quoted in Medill Reports (Chicago) on the best way to administer arthritis medications.
