In October 2011, Syracuse University welcomed to campus a production crew from Lifetime Television’s “Coming Home” program, which features surprise reunions between members of the armed services and their loved ones back home.
The SU “Coming Home” episode is scheduled to air Wednesday, June 27, on Lifetime at 10 p.m. EST.
Throughout the course of filming the episode, many SU community members contributed to the success of the real-life reunion between a U.S. Army soldier deployed in Afghanistan and his wife, daughter and son, who are based at Ft. Drum, N.Y. Filming took place in the Carrier Dome, with the actual surprise reunion happening just before kick-off of the SU vs. West Virginia football game, and in front of more than 45,000 fans in attendance.
Among those taking part in the filming was NFL Hall of Famer Floyd Little '67, special assistant to the athletics director in SU Athletics, who gave the soldier special advice taken from his days as an NFL running back.
