Michel Martin, host of the NPR talk show “Tell Me More,” will visit Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications on Wednesday, Nov. 30, as part of the Leaders in Communications speaker series. She will speak on “Just Because You’re a Black Woman Doesn’t Mean You’re Not The Man: My Adventures in Diversity” at 7:30 p.m. in the Joyce Hergenhan Auditorium in Newhouse 3. Martin’s career in journalism spans more than 25 years. She spent 15 years at ABC News as a correspondent for “Nightline” and other programs and specials, including the network's coverage of Sept. 11, a documentary on the Anita Hill-Clarence Thomas controversy and a critically acclaimed AIDS documentary. She also contributed reports for ABC News' ongoing series “America in Black and White.” Prior to joining ABC, Martin covered state and local politics for the Washington Post and national politics and policy for the Wall Street Journal, where she was White House correspondent. She has also been a regular panelist on the PBS series “Washington Week” and a contributor to “NOW with Bill Moyers.”
She is the recipient of numerous awards, including two Salute to Excellence Awards from the National Association of Black Journalists.
