Meridian Phase 2, a New York City-based ensemble featuring pianist Adrienne Kim, a faculty member in the Rose, Jules R. and Stanford S. Setnor School of Music in Syracuse University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA), will present a concert of classic and contemporary chamber music for clarinet, piano and strings on Tuesday, Feb. 1, at 8 p.m. in the Rose and Jules R. Setnor Auditorium, Crouse College. The concert is free and open to the public. Free parking is available in the Irving Garage.
The ensemble will perform the Syracuse premiere of “For Noah,” a piano trio by Setnor School composition faculty member Nicolas Scherzinger, as well as Mozart’s Piano Quartet in G Minor, K. 478, “Hommage à Robert Schumann” by György Kurtág, a Fairy Tale by Robert Schumann and Brahms’ Clarinet Trio in A Minor, Op. 114.
In addition to Kim, Meridian Phase 2 includes Alan Kay, clarinet; Lisa Tipton, violin; Daniel Panner, viola; and Alberto Parrini, cello. The ensemble has established a reputation for innovative programming and captivating performances with its decade-long series, “Made in America,” at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. In addition to the concert, Meridian Phase 2 will be working with SU students in master classes.
