The ExxonMobil Foundation has provided a grant in the amount of $49,542 to Syracuse University, representing ExxonMobil’s 3-to-l match of donations made to SU by ExxonMobil employees, retirees and surviving spouses under the foundation’s 2010 Educational Matching Gift Program.
Harold (Hal) Cramer ’71, president of ExxonMobil Fuels Marketing Company and graduate of the L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science, personally delivered the foundation’s check to SU on May 19. Cramer has made it a point to hand deliver the foundation gift each year, and frequently takes time to interact with students and faculty on a variety of topics.
SU is among the 924 participating colleges and universities that participate in the Educational Matching Gift Program. ExxonMobil employees, retirees and surviving spouses donated $12.5 million to institutions of higher education in 2010, matched by ExxonMobil Foundation with educational grants totaling $26.2 million.
The ExxonMobil Foundation is working to improve U.S. math and science education by supporting programs that benefit both students and teachers, and by targeting math and science programs to respond to the nation’s growing need to produce more engineers and scientists.

The ExxonMobil Foundation is the primary philanthropic arm of the Exxon Mobil Corporation in the United States. The Foundation and the Corporation engage in a range of philanthropic activities that advance education, health and science in the communities where ExxonMobil has significant operations. In the United States, ExxonMobil supports initiatives to improve math and science education at the K-12 and higher education levels.
