Students are invited to attend the 22nd annual Alexia Foundation Photo Grant Competition judging on Saturday, Feb. 19, at 10 a.m. in Room 101 of Newhouse 1.
A seminar, featuring this year’s competition judges, will be held Friday, Feb. 18, at 4 p.m. in Room 101 of Newhouse 1. This year’s judges are Annie Griffiths of National Geographic, Eliane Laffont of Hachette Filipacchi Media and Bob Sacha of National Geographic and Fortune. The SU community is welcome to attend.

The Alexia Foundation awards a grant annually to a professional and a student photographer to help them create work that contributes to world peace and cross-cultural communication. The foundation was created by Peter and Aphrodite Tsairis to honor their daughter Alexia, one of 35 students studying abroad under the auspices of SU who died as the result of the terrorist bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland. Alexia’s abiding beliefs were in the capacity and responsibility of individuals to shape and advance peace in our time; the Alexia Foundation is dedicated to providing students and professionals with the means to do so.
