Syracuse University’s Entrepreneurs Bootcamp, a program led by the Falcone Center for Entrepreneurship in the Whitman School of Management, assists entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs in developing the skills necessary to take their idea or existing venture to the next level. Now in its eighth year, the program will be held on six consecutive Saturdays, beginning on Oct. 9 and concluding with graduation on Nov. 13.

“The Bootcamp was exactly what I needed at the right time; the program spoke to me as a new entrepreneur just as it spoke to the seasoned entrepreneur sitting next to me,” says Linda Erb, founder of and a 2009 Bootcamp participant. “I came away from every session with invigorating emotions of pride, impatience, enthusiasm and excitement that still linger with me today. I learned that running a business is not a science but an art. Everything from accounting and legal and financial knowledge to Internet acumen and marketing has to work together for my business foundation. I could not have gotten that from any other place than the Syracuse Entrepreneurs Bootcamp.”

Bootcamp classes are taught by award-winning SU professors. Guest entrepreneurs will share their stories of challenges and obstacles overcome. Mentoring and coaching will be provided to individuals by consultants and Whitman M.B.A. students. Students of the program will be trained to write a business concept, create winning business plans, and make smart decisions on the critical financial, legal and marketing tactics for victory in a competitive market.

“Entrepreneurship has been spoken of frequently in the last 18 months as one viable solution for re-igniting our economy,” says Tom Kruczek, executive director of the Falcone Center. “Called ‘bootcamp’ because it is vigorous and intense, the program includes relevant, useful material for new and existing entrepreneurs to start and grow businesses. We’ve seen quite a bit of success in our eight years offering this program—and with this year’s program, we look forward to helping launch more businesses in Central New York.”

The Syracuse Entrepreneurs Bootcamp will be held at the Whitman School building at 721 University Ave. Tuition for the six-week program is $650, with a limited number of $200 scholarships available to qualified applicants. Sessions take place from 8:30 a.m.–noon. To register, visit or contact Lindsay Wickham, events coordinator, at (315) 443-3550 or
