The Sustainable Enterprise Partnership (SEP), a collaboration among the Whitman School of Management, the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY-ESF) and the Syracuse Center of Excellence (SyracuseCoE), invites faculty, staff and Ph.D. students from SU and SUNY-ESF to two special events with the SEP’s inaugural Fetner Visiting Sustainability Leader, Michael V. Russo. Russo is the Lundquist Professor of Sustainable Management in the Lundquist College of Business at the University of Oregon.
The first event on Thursday, Feb. 18, is a discussion with Russo on “Sustainability in the Curriculum: Building Interdisciplinary Capability,” which will be held at 4 p.m. in Room 525 of the Whitman School building.
On Friday, Feb. 19, Russo will offer “Sustainability-Related Research Opportunities” at a panel and luncheon event in Room 402 of the Whitman School building, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Tom Lumpkin, the Witting Chair of Entrepreneurship at the Whitman School, and David Newman, professor and chair of the Department of Forest and Natural Resources Management at SUNY-ESF, will join Russo on the Feb. 19 panel.

Russo’s research focuses on the interaction of national and international environmental, social and political policies, and strategic management. He recently completed a study of the drivers of green power sales and a project with the Mexican government to improve markets for environmentally certified wood products. He has written a new book, “Companies on a Mission: Entrepreneurial Strategies for Growing Sustainably, Responsibly and Profitably,” which will be published by Stanford University Press in April. His current projects include a study of the impact of social and environmental issues on global supply chains and an analysis of clustering behavior by mission-driven companies.
Articles by Russo have appeared in premier scholarly journals, including the Academy of Management Journal, Administrative Science Quarterly, Management Science, Organization Science and Strategic Management Journal. In addition, he serves on the editorial boards of the Academy of Management Journal and Strategic Management Journal.
