Students and faculty of the Rose, Jules R. and Stanford S. Setnor School of Music in the College of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) will present the concert, “A Setnor Sampler,” Friday, Jan. 28, at 8 p.m. at Tenri Cultural Institute, 43A W. 13th St., New York City. The concert is free and open to the public.
The program features classic and contemporary works, as well as jazz and improvisation performed by soloists and small ensembles. Composers to be performed include J.S. Bach, Henri Dutilleux, Agustin Barrios, Hugo Wolf, Jacques Ibert, Jules Massenet, Samuel Barber, Igor Stravinsky, Richard Strauss, Antonin Dvořák and Bill DiCosimo, a faculty member in the Setnor School.
Faculty performers include Janet Brown (soprano), Joshua Dekaney (percussion), DiCosimo (piano), Jonathan English (tenor), Fred Karpoff (piano), Ken Meyer (guitar), Peter Rovit (violin), Nicolas Scherzinger (saxophone), Caroline Stinson (cello), Ida Trebicka (piano) and Andrew Waggoner (violin).
Student performers include Baptiste Arnaud (clarinet), Patrick Behringer (piano), Jillian Bushnell (bassoon), Jordan Dusek (oboe), Stephanie Rainess (flute), Trevor Roche (clarinet), Allison Thurnherr (horn) and Edgar Tumajyan (violin).
