Faculty members from the Center for Health and Behavior (CHB) at Syracuse University will present a lecture at Upstate Medical University on adolescent health research on Wednesday, Oct. 13. The free presentation will take place at 4 p.m. in 2231 Weiskotten Hall, 766 Irving Ave., on the SUNY Upstate campus. Registration is not required.
Michael Carey, CHB director and Dean’s Professor of the Sciences; Craig Ewart, CHB senior scientist and professor of psychology; and Peter Vanable, CHB senior scientist and associate professor and interim chair of psychology will discuss the extent to which African-American adolescents are affected by heart disease and HIV, the relationship between psychosocial stress and the development of heart disease, and two major approaches to promoting HIV risk reduction among high-risk adolescents.
The conversation will be of interest to public health professionals, physicians, nurses, physician assistants, allied health professionals, students and others interested in public health, community health and disease prevention. The presentation is part of Upstate’s Public Health & Preventive Medicine Grand Rounds and is sponsored by the Office of Continuing Medical Education at Upstate.
