The painting program in the School of Art and Design in Syracuse University's College of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) will present a talk by artist Duane Slick Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m. in Room 132C of the Dorothea Ilgen Shaffer Art Building.
Slick is a professor of painting and printmaking at Rhode Island School of Design in Providence. He recently exhibited work in the group show "Native Voices: Contemporary Indigenous Art" at Five Myles in Brooklyn and the solo show "The Paths of My Fathers" at Nielsen Gallery in Boston. His work is held in many public collections, including the Institute of American Indian Arts Museum in Santa Fe, N.M.; the Rockwell Museum of Western Art in Corning, N.Y.; and the C.N. Gorman Museum at the University of California-Davis, the institution from which he earned a master of fine arts degree in painting.
