Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications recently participated in the American Institute for Research's (AIR) "SAT I Writing Validity Study." The test, administered to 173 first-year college students, is investigating the predictive and incremental validity of the writing test that will be part of the new SAT I for high school students in 2005.

Fifteen schools and colleges nationwide took part in the study. The AIR will evaluate the test results in combination with student-reported high school GPAs to determine whether there is a correlation between freshman academic performance and standardized test scores.
