The Syracuse University Brahms Festival will continue at 8 p.m. Jan. 28 with performances by faculty members in the Rose, Jules R. and Stanford S. Setnor School of Music, College of Visual and Performing Arts. The concert, part of the Setnor Tuesday Concert Series, is free and open to the public and will be held in the Rose and Jules R. Setnor Auditorium in SU's Crouse College.
The concert will feature Joseph Downing, associate dean and director of the Setnor School of Music, presenting "Selected Choral Preludes" on the historic Walter Holtkamp organ; soprano Tricia Oney performing "Songs," op. 70 accompanied by pianist Sar Shalom Strong; and cellist Gregory Wood and pianist Ida Trebicka performing "Cello Sonata in e minor," op. 38.
The Brahms Festival is a community-wide celebration of Johannes Brahms that began last October and will continue with selected concerts through April 1. The festival is presented by the New York City-based Cassatt String Quartet, the Setnor School of Music and the Department of Fine Arts in The College of Arts and Sciences.
