The Syracuse Metropolitan Transportation Council (SMTC) will be holding the first of three public meetings for its University Hill Comprehensive Transportation Study-a comprehensive planning project examining transportation, land use, access and parking issues in the University Hill area-Sept. 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria at Nottingham High School, 3100 East Genesee St.
The goal of the study is to develop recommendations for the wide range of transportation and land use issues in the University Hill area, while supporting existing land uses and guiding future development. Issues covered include: existing and future land uses; vehicle and pedestrian access; parking; and use of multiple modes of transportation.
The first public meeting will formally present the study to the public. Among the topics to be discussed are the study's purpose, goals and objectives; study area; and the existing conditions and data analysis performed to date. However, the primary focus of the meeting will be to gather public comments and opinions on current and future transportation and land use issues. Public input obtained from this meeting will be considered throughout the study and will be factored into subsequent reports and recommendations.
