Robert Darnton will give a free lecture on " Mlle. Bonafon and the Private Life of Louis XV: What the Butler Saw and What the Public Read in 18th-Century France" Sept. 11 at 4 p.m. in the 1916 Room of E.S. Bird Library as part of the History of the Book Seminar Series.

Darnton is the Shelby Cullom Davis '30 Professor of European History at Princeton University and a leading authority on the history of books and censorship.
