Daniel S. Godfrey, professor of music at Syracuse University's College of Visual and Performing Arts, is having a new CD of his music released on the Koch International Classics recording label. The CD features compositions for string quartet, and is performed by the Cassatt String Quartet, SU's quartet-in-residence.
"It is gratifying to hear my compositions performed by the Cassatt String Quartet," says Godfrey. "Every time I hear them play my work, it's like a joyride."
Godfrey began composing at the age of eight. He is a graduate of Yale University and the University of Iowa's School of Music.
The all-Godfrey CD will be released by Koch Classics in February. The recording was made possible by a grant from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and it will be available through commercial retailers of classical music CDs.
