Stephen Bainbridge, a renowned expert on corporate law and securities issues, will speak at Syracuse University's College of Law on Friday, Jan. 23 at 4 p.m. The lecture will take place in the Grant Auditorium in White Hall.
Bainbridge teaches at the Law School of the University of California - Los Angeles. His lecture is called "The Business Judgment Rule as Abstention Doctrine" and will look at how companies like Enron and Global Crossing shield themselves from judicial scrutiny.
Bainbridge is the author of several books on business associations and corporations, including "Mergers and Acquisition," "Business Associations: Cases and Materials on Agency, Partnerships, and Corporations" and "Corporation Law and Economics." He has published more than 40 law review articles in national law journals. He has taught at the University of Illinois Law School, Harvard Law School and the Aoyama Gakuin University in Tokyo. He holds a J.D. from the University of Virginia.
