A one-day seminar, "Spirituality & Therapy: relationships, practice, and self of the therapist," will be held Jan. 23 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in the Noble Room of Hendricks Chapel. The event, organized by College of Human Services and Health Professions (HSHP) student Elaine Wolf Steinberg, is aimed at professionals in therapy or other helping professions.
Presenters include Steinberg, who will present on the use of spirituality in couples therapy; Suzanne Hass-Cunningham, assistant professor of marriage and family therapy, who will give an interactive presentation on the use of spirituality to foster healthier relationships; Kathy Kurtz, director of crisis management and trauma response at University Hospital, who will present on "compassion fatigue" and the use of spirituality among professionals in the mental health, grief counseling and holistic healing fields; and Ednita Wright, a therapist in private practice and an adjunct at Ithaca College, who will present on the spiritual tools professionals can use to enhance their relationships with their clients and help their clients enhance their relationships with others.
