Syracuse Stage reschedules rock music auditions for "Hedwig"

Syracuse Stage will be holding rescheduled auditions for local rock musicians to form the Angry Inch, the band that will appear in the Stage's January production of "Hedwig and the Angry Inch." Auditions will be held in the Storch Theater at Syracuse Stage Aug. 7 from 2-7 p.m., Aug. 8 from 1-6 p.m., and Aug. 9 from noon-3 p.m.


Director Michael Donald Edwards - who, because of travel commitments, was unable to visit Syracuse on an earlier scheduled date -- will be auditioning for a drummer, bassist, guitarist and keyboard player. the musical's script calls for male band members. Individual musicians and full bands are welcome to audition, and individual musicians may pull in others to help play, if needed.


Two songs should be prepared for the audition, including at least one from the glam rock period. A drum kit and amplifiers will be in place onstage during each 10-minute audition slot.


Hedwig and the Angry Inch, which will runs from Jan. 21 - Feb.15, 2004, is the story of Hedwig, who after a botched sex change operation and the rejection of two men learns to make it on her own, touring from town to town with her band The Angry Inch.
