Cynthia Cappuccilli of Syracuse has been named Syracuse University bursar, effective July 1. She succeeds Carol Beaudoin, who retired in January.
As bursar, Cappuccilli is responsible for the overall billing of student accounts, and accordingly is the resident expert regarding University pricing policies and procedures. She oversees a 15-member staff.
Cappuccilli came to SU in October 1994 as an account representative in the Bursar's Office. She also served as a senior account representative and manager before her appointment as bursar. She brings a strong customer-service background to her new position.
"Cynthia is a very customer-oriented individual who has done a terrific job for the University," says James Crimmer, associate comptroller. "She will now have an even greater opportunity to contribute in her new capacity as bursar."
"I enjoy working with people and look for the 'all-win' in any situation," Cappuccilli says. "I look forward to using the education and experience I have gained here at SU in my new role as bursar. SU is truly a wonderful place to work."
Cappuccilli received an associate's degree in business management from Onondaga Community College as an adult student while raising a family and working full time. She lives in Syracuse with her husband, Dominick, and their two sons, Anthony and Dominick. The younger Dominick will be a freshman in SU's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in the fall.
Cappuccilli says that she has greatly benefited from the learning opportunities that are available to staff members at the University.
"This education and the support of the entire bursar office are the reasons that I have enjoyed success at SU," Cappuccilli says.
