Students Offering Service, a program of Syracuse University's Hendricks Chapel, will sponsor its fifth annual Chess Camp June 29-July 3.
The free camp, which will be held in Hendricks Chapel's Noble Room, is designed to familiarize children with the moves and basic strategies that comprise the game of chess. As a result, children develop skills in logic, mathematics, reading, persuasion and communication.
Approximately 40 children from the greater Syracuse area and more than a dozen University and community volunteers are expected to participate in this year's camp, which will be held from 4-7 p.m. June 29 and 9 a.m.-noon June 30-July 3.
