Ronald R. Cavanagh, vice president for undergraduate studies at Syracuse University, has announced the appointment of Maureen Breed as university registrar as of July 1.

During her 20 years at SU, Breed has had experience with all aspects of the Registrar's operations, previously serving in such positions as manager of student records, director of registrar services and operations, Associate Registrar and interim registrar. For much of her career Breed has been active in associated national professional organizations and in close contact with the network of registrars at other AAU institutions.

Breed has provided leadership for many University initiatives, including the Advisory Group for Academic Processes, the University Catalog Review Committee, and the Academic Calendar Committee. She also has provided oversight for the implementation of the federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the successful implementation of the PeopleSoft HRSA Student Records module.

"Maureen has the proven ability to tackle complex issues and projects and has the energy and commitment to continue to enhance the quality of services that the Registrar's Office provides across the University," says Cavanagh.
