Helen "Jinx" Crouch of Manlius received the annual Thursday Morning Roundtable award for Meritorious Community Service at the organization's May 15 meeting. Presented by TMR founder Lee Smith, the award was given in recognition of Crouch's contributions to the quality of life in Central New York through volunteering.
An active contributor to organizations such as Success By Six, FOCUS Greater Syracuse, and RLS Career Center, Crouch is most notably recognized as former president of the board of Literacy Volunteers of America, from which she retired as CEO after 14 years of service. Nationally, Crouch has been appointed by former President George H.W. Bush to the Advisory Board of the new National Institute for Literacy. Crouch has served as a TMR member since 1984.
TMR is an award-winning public service program sponsored by Syracuse University Continuing Education/University College. It is a weekly civic forum bringing together a mix of citizens to learn about and discuss community issues and problems.
