During the Syracuse University Alumni Club of Central New York's annual dinner meeting, held May 20, the club announced the creation of a new scholarship named in honor of Chancellor Kenneth A. Shaw. The chapter now offers six scholarship programs.
At the meeting, Shaw spoke before an audience of 90 attendees, including graduating scholarship winners; he outlined his vision for the opportunities and challenges SU is likely to face during its next 10 years.
The evening's festivities also included the dedication of a new alumni display case in the lobby of the Goldstein Faculty and Alumni Center, sponsored by the club to showcase the history of the University.
The chapter also elected new board members - Richard Calagiovanni, Marissa Mims, Jeffrey Eades, Alexander Henn, Laura Madelone and Ray Borg - and honored Horace Laundry as the outgoing treasurer. Club officers announced an endowment in memory of former board member Ron Sager.
