Maureen Breed G'89, director of registrar services and operations in the University's Office of the Registrar, has been named interim University registrar. The appointment, effective July 1, was made by Vice President for Undergraduate Studies Ronald R. Cavanagh.

Breed takes over for longtime University Registrar Peter DeBlois, who has accepted a position with EDUCAUSE in Colorado.

Breed has 18 years of broad experience in the Office of the Registrar. She has served as registrar recorder, administrative clerk, manager of student records and associate registrar for student records prior to assuming her current position in 1995. In addition to overseeing the Registrar's Operations and Systems teams, she chairs the University Catalog Review Committee, oversees the annual update of SU's Academic Rules and Regulations, and plays a central role in the ongoing PeopleSoft implementation. Breed also is a member of several key University policy-procedures groups, including the Academic Coordinating Committee, the Human Resources-Student Administration (HRSA) Council, and the Student Information Systems Core Group.

"Maureen has superior knowledge of the operation of the Office of the Registrar and the proven management skills to lead us effectively in the days ahead," Cavanagh says.

Breed holds a bachelor's degree from SUNY Albany and a master's degree from SU's School of Information Studies (1989).
