Life-with its glories, indignities, hopes and quiet dreams-is the subject of "The World
Goes 'Round," a stunning revue of the beloved songs of John Kander and Fred Ebb that will
be presented by the Syracuse University Department of Drama April 24-May 9 at the

Featuring unforgettable gems from throughout their incredible career in theater, film and
television, the work spotlights songs from "Cabaret," "Chicago," "New York, New York,"
"Funny Lady," "Kiss Of The Spiderwoman" and more.
Some of the beloved musical numbers in "The World Goes 'Round" are "Coffee In A
Cardboard Cup," "And All That Jazz," "Mr. Cellophane," "Me And My Baby," "Kiss Of
The Spider Woman," "Only Love," "Maybe This Time," "Cabaret" and "New York, New
York."
Nathan Hurwitz (director, musical director and musical staging) joined the SU Department
of Drama faculty in 2006 after a lengthy career as a conductor, arranger and keyboard
player. With a B.F.A. from New York University, an M.A. from Northwestern University
and his Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh, Hurwitz has studied acting, directing and
conducting/orchestration.
His credits include Broadway, international tours and U.S. tours, plus regional presentations
at The Williamstown Theatre Festival, Indiana Repertory Theatre, Long Wharf Theatre and
The Pittsburgh Public Theatre. For the SU Drama Department, Hurwitz has musical
directed "Urinetown," "Little Women," "My One and Only" and "Sweeney Todd," and has
directed and musical directed "Lucky Stiff." For Syracuse Stage, Nathan has musical
directed "A Christmas Carol" and "Menopause: The Musical," and appeared as the rabbi in
"Fiddler on the Roof."
Kimberly Hale, choreographer, is an assistant professor in the Department of Drama's
Musical Theatre program, where she teaches all levels of jazz dance. Her choreography
credits include a national promotional tour for EXPEDIA.COM, "Bye, Bye Birdie," "Little
Women," the "Bank of America Children's Tour Fractured Fairy Tales," "For Colored Girls
Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf," and benefits for Hospice of
Central New York and the American Heart Association. She is also part of the Ballet
Hispanico Ensemble concert repertory.
