Syracuse Stage, in collaboration with the
Department of Drama in Syracuse
University's
College of Visual and Performing Arts, will hold local Equity auditions
for the upcoming season's performance of "Little Women" on Saturday, April 18,
from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Participants are expected to come with two prepared songs: one
up-tempo song and one ballad demonstrating vocal strengths, preferably with sheet
music. Those auditioning should also bring a headshot and a resume. Those

Sean Hartley's adaptation of "Little Women" features all of Louisa May Alcott's
classical characters. Brimming with 20 beautiful songs, this new musical captures all
the struggle, romance and deep emotions of Alcott's beloved tale. It's a story that
shows that what we cherish most-family, sacrifice, determination, hope and love-
never go out of style. The show was workshopped in SU's 2007 New Play Workshop
and is a recipient of a Richard Rodgers Award for the songwriting team of Kim Oler
and Alison Hubbard.

Those auditioning should be aware of all important dates regarding the production.
The show's first rehearsal will be held Oct. 27, and the technical run-throughs will be
Nov. 20-22. The show will run Nov. 24-Dec. 27, with up to nine performances per
week.

Available roles:

• Marmee-a mature woman with intelligence, humor and warmth; seeking
  ideally a mature alto with head mix able to sing in G-Eb range;
  
• Aunt March-a comically patrician battle axe; a mature comic alto with range
  A-D;
  
• Father-a gently eccentric clergyman with a twinkle in his eye; a limited-
  range baritone form D-D;
  
• Professor Fritz Bhaer-a proper, passionate scholar with self-deprecating
  charm; a baritone with Bb-Eb range; and
  
• Mr. Lawrence-a gruff and haughty gentleman of business, with a
  surprisingly soft heart; a limited range Baritone with a range of C-D.
