Planning for Syracuse Welcome 2009, the move-in process in August that will
precede the Fall 2009 semester, is currently under way.

Volunteers are again needed for a variety of tasks, such as greeting new students as
they arrive on campus at their residence halls; decorating the campus with balloons
and signs to show Orange spirit; and assisting with event logistics. More than 3,200
students are expected to arrive in August, and the volunteer efforts of staff, faculty,
alumni and friends will ensure they begin their collegiate experience feeling
welcomed into the Syracuse University community.

Organizers are also seeking student volunteers for the Goon Squad, a group of SU
students who help first year and transfer students move into residence halls. Goon
Squad members are the first faces that new students and families see when they
arrive on campus.

Those who are interested in volunteering this year should visit

access the online volunteer registration form. Volunteers must be registered by Aug.
