Ten Tons of Love-a Syracuse University and SUNY College of Environmental
Science and Forestry program that collects non-perishable food, clothing, furniture
and other used items from on- and off-campus student residences for distribution to
local charities-is looking for volunteers to help with this year's drive.

This year's collection drive takes place April 27-May 15. On-campus pick-up ends
May 11. Volunteers are needed for:

  • Loading and moving-Volunteers meet in the Chaplains' Suite in Hendricks Chapel at 9 a.m. and
travel to the residence halls to load donated items into trucks to be taken to First English Lutheran
Church, 501 James St. The shift ends at 1 p.m. Transportation and lunch is provided. This
    opportunity involves some heavy lifting.

  • Sorting, from 2-3 p.m.-Volunteers go directly to First English Lutheran Church to sort donated
items by type and size. Volunteers need to provide their own transportation to and from the
church. When arriving at the church, volunteers should go to the basement and check in with
    Paula Hughson.
