The Syracuse University School of Information Studies (iSchool) announced Thursday that it will award $1,000 to each art entry selected to be installed in its iSchool Windows Project. This is in addition to the $2,500 allotted per window to cover the costs of materials and fabrication.
The Windows Project will result in the selection of up to six commissioned site-specific art pieces to be permanently installed in the ground floor window wells of Hinds Hall. The focus of the commissioned artwork is to integrate these unfinished but highly visible spaces with the rest of the building.
A second information meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 8, at 1 p.m. in the Innovation Studio, Room 011 of Hinds Hall. Project organizers will discuss the details of the Call for Proposal and the physical spaces as well as give an overview of the iSchool—its history and future.
The iSchool is accepting proposals from all SU students, faculty and staff. Artwork can include a wide variety of media, including sculpture, painting, mosaics, multimedia or other formats.

Please label materials: iSchool Windows Project. From the submitted proposals, a jury—including iSchool Dean Elizabeth D. Liddy and other iSchool members, VPA Dean Ann Clarke and Deborah Ryan, senior curator at the Everson Museum in Syracuse—will select a group of semi-finalists who will be invited to give a public presentation of their proposals during a reception Thursday, April 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Innovation Studio, Room 011 of Hinds Hall.
