The JPMorgan Chase & Co. 2009 Spring Speaker Series at Syracuse University
continues on Wednesday, March 18, with Eric Mize, manager of network
performance engineering at JPMorgan Chase.
He will speak about the characteristics, practicality and business implications of key
wide area networking technologies from 12:45-2:05 p.m. in Room 132 of Lyman Hall
at a session of information studies assistant professor Dave Molta's "Introduction to
Networking" course. The lecture is open to the public.
Mize's team at JPMorgan Chase specializes in application analysis and network
forecasting for the largest financial services' technology infrastructure in the world.
He has introduced computerized network simulation to the firm and led his team to
reduce transaction response time, cut traffic footprints, better fail-over recoveries, and
optimize application-over-network dynamics for more than 800 application
deployments.
Prior to joining JPMorgan Chase, Mize worked for International Network Services
(INS), for which he delivered performance engineering services to Fortune 500 clients
in the financial, retail and defense industries. While at INS, Mize spearheaded
development of the North Central Region's consultative practice specializing in
computerized modeling and simulation.
During an extended tenure as an electrical engineering officer with the U.S. Air
Force, Mize was responsible for developing enterprise networking strategy. Among
his numerous assignments was a tour as a senior telecommunications manager in
Central America. He also fielded global prototype systems and led the integration of
circuit, packet and cell-switched technologies while progressing through various
engineering and leadership positions.
Mize has a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Akron,
and a master's degree in engineering management from Old Dominion University.
