Author Michael Pearson will speak on his new Syracuse University Press publication,
"Innocents Abroad Too: Journeys Around the World on Semester at Sea," March 7 at
2 p.m. at the DeWitt Community Library in ShoppingTown Mall.
While most people don't get the opportunity to circumnavigate the globe, Pearson
has had the good fortune to do it twice. In "Innocents Abroad Too," he shares his
experiences and candid impressions, transporting the reader from bustling streets
outside Shanghai's City God Temple to the Masai Mara plain, offering a blend of
experience and imagination in worlds familiar and strange.
Pearson is a two-term professor in the Semester at Sea Program. He has journeyed
by ship to such countries as China, Cuba, Egypt, India, Japan, Myanmar, South
Africa, Turkey and Vietnam.
Pearson is also author of "Dreaming of Columbus: A Boyhood in the Bronx" (1999)
and the novel "Shohola Falls" (2003), both published by Syracuse University Press.
