DPS Officer Michael Lemm named Liverpool PD 2008 Detective of the Year

Syracuse University Department of Public Safety Peace Officer Michael Lemm, who
joined DPS full time in January 2009, has been named the Liverpool Police
Department's 2008 Detective of the Year.


William Becker, chief of the Liverpool Police Department, lauds Lemm for his
"steadfast performance and dedication within the police department, which led to the
successful completion of several very high-profile cases in 2008." Chief Becker
continues, "His strong initiative and remarkable talent as a detective and sound
leadership make him stand out among his peers."


While working for the Liverpool PD, Lemm joined the DPS Orange Watch team part
time in December 2007 and then joined DPS full time in January 2009. Lemm also
served more than 20 years with the Syracuse Police Department and held positions
with the Oneida Nation Police, Herkimer Community College Safety and SU DPS.
