The academic calendars for both 2010-11 and 2011-12 have been released and are
posted on the Registrar's Office website,
http://registrar.syr.edu/acadcalendars/index.html. Both calendars are very similar to
recent University schedules and include no major changes.

These calendars are based on principles and guidelines established by the University
Academic Calendar Committee that developed the 2009-10 calendar. That
committee, consisting of faculty and administrators and chaired by the University
Registrar, solicited comment from the University community and consulted with
various University bodies, including the Chancellor's Cabinet, the Dean's Council and
the Academic Coordinating Committee, to develop both the 2010-11 and 2011-12
calendars. According to University Registrar Maureen Breed, plans to develop
calendars for a full five-year period are under way and will include a process for
consideration of potential changes.

The proposed academic calendars are submitted to Vice Chancellor and Provost Eric
F. Spina, who reviews and approves the final calendars, with the concurrence of
Chancellor and President Nancy Cantor.
