The atrium of the Hildegarde and J. Myer Schine Student Center will be abuzz with
international excitement on Wednesday, Feb. 11. As part of the annual Study Abroad
Day, SU Abroad staff and alumni will be on hand from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. to offer
information and answer questions about SU Abroad's numerous options, including
semester, full-year, summer and short-term programs across a wide breadth of
disciplines.
Now in its third year, Study Abroad Day is a one-stop shop for students planning to
go abroad within the next year or two. "Students can speak with our program
counselors, get a glimpse into the study-abroad experience from recent alumni, and
attend information sessions to find out which programs are best suited to their goals,"
says recruitment specialist Wendy Sikorski. "Plus, the Onondaga County Clerk's
Office will be present to help students apply for passports. Everything you need to
begin planning your journey abroad is here."
Students, faculty and staff alike are encouraged to stop by to meet staff and alumni
and check out student photography from the Alumni Photo Contest (on display in
Schine's Panasci Lounge through Feb. 20). It's also the perfect time for students who
are on the fence about going abroad to learn about all the fall 2009 financial aid
incentives that aren't available in spring. Such incentives include supplemental grants
and a credit on spring on-campus housing.
Students interested in a specific location or seeking more detailed information should
attend the respective presentation. A schedule of the day's events is available on the
SU Abroad website (http://suabroad.syr.edu).

SU Abroad consistently ranks among the highest-quality international education
programs in the country. More than 2,000 students from both SU and higher
education institutions across the country study abroad with SU every year. SU
Abroad programs foster Scholarship in Action through a combination of world travel,
academic excellence, internships and community collaboration. The University
currently operates six centers: Beijing, Florence, Hong Kong, London, Madrid,
Santiago and Strasbourg. New centers are under development in Latin America, the
Caribbean and Africa. Through the World Partners program, SU students may also
study in more than 20 additional countries, including Australia, Chile, Ecuador,
India, Israel, Korea and Russia.
