The Muslim Student Association (MSA) of Syracuse University will hold a candlelight vigil for the
people of Gaza on Tuesday, Jan. 13, at 5:30 p.m. on the steps of Hendricks Chapel. The event is
free and open to the campus and Syracuse communities. Candles will be provided.
Speakers at the event will include Ahmed Al-Salem, MSA president; Raed M. Sharif, a Ph.D.
candidate in SU's School of Information Studies and a native of Gaza; the Rev. Kelly N. Sprinkle,
interim dean of Hendricks Chapel; Andy Mager of the Syracuse Peace Council; and Oneida Indian
singer/songwriter Joanne Shenandoah. The event was organized with help from Tula Goenka,
associate professor of television, radio and film in SU's S.I. Newhouse School of Public
Communications.
In case of inclement weather, the event will take place inside the chapel.
