The Community Folk Art Center (CFAC) is sponsoring two classes in the new year.
"Introduction to Yoga" will begin Monday, Jan. 12, from 7:30-8:15 p.m. for 10 weeks
in the dance studio at CFAC, 805 E. Genesee St., Syracuse. This class will bring
participants through the fundamentals of the most common yoga postures and help
develop breath and body awareness, foundational skills that will guide students
throughout their yoga experience.

The class is appropriate for those with no previous yoga experience, as well as those
who would like a refresher course of the fundamentals.

"Introduction to Spanish" will begin Wednesday, Jan. 14, and run from 6:15-7:30
p.m., also for 10 weeks. This course introduces the basics of the Spanish language and
gives participants tools to begin speaking it and recognizing it in the world around
them. The instructor will be Monica Garcia Taylor.

This class is appropriate for those with little or no experience with the Spanish
language. Students are encouraged to provide their own copy of the class text,
"Learn Spanish the Fast and Fun Way" (Barron's Educational Series, third edition,
2002) by Gene Hammitt.

Drop-in sessions for either class will cost $10; each entire series is $80. To register,
contact the CFAC at (315) 442-2230 or cfac@syr.edu.

The Community Folk Art Center is a branch of the Department of African American
Studies in The College of Arts and Sciences.

The CFAC is sponsored, in part, by the New York State Council on the Arts, the
Cultural Resources Council, the Coalition of Museums & Art Centers at Syracuse
University, the College of Visual and Performing Arts and the Office of the
Chancellor.
