As part of NBC Universal's Green Week, Syracuse University and the University of
Notre Dame are battling each other in the Green Your Routine Challenge to see
which university can achieve the greatest carbon footprint reduction. The winning
university will receive $10,000 toward making its campus more eco-friendly.
As of Nov. 19, Notre Dame (http://www.carbonrally.com/teams/557) is leading SU
(http://www.carbonrally.com/teams/558) in the Carbon Rally challenge. More SU
fans are needed to participate and make small, positive actions that will contribute to
a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions. On Nov. 22, the Fighting Irish and Orange
will meet each other on the turf, but the Carbon Rally challenge will continue until
Nov. 30.
To participate in the Carbon Rally, visit the Be Orange Think Green team website at
http://www.carbonrally.com/teams/558. Carbon Rally is one of a growing number of
websites where consumers can track their carbon footprints-the amount of carbon
dioxide emissions they produce. Carbon dioxide emissions, when released into the
atmosphere, are a major contributor to global warming.
SU students, faculty, staff, alumni and fans are eligible to participate in the Green
Your Routine challenge. To find out more about NBC Universal's Green Week (Nov.
16-23), during which more than 200 hours of environmentally themed programming
is being aired, visit http://greenisuniversal.com.
