On the heels of successful flu shot clinics and walk-in sessions during the month of
October, Syracuse University Health Services is offering a follow-up flu shot clinic
this Thursday, Nov. 20, from 1-4 p.m. at Health Services' 111 Waverly Ave. location.

Health Services staff members will give seasonal influenza vaccinations, free of
charge, on a first-come, first-served basis. No appointment is needed. A valid SU
student or employee I.D. must be shown in order to receive a shot. For more
information on the clinics and walk-in sessions, call 443-9019. Thousands of SU
students, faculty and staff have already been vaccinated, and it is anticipated that this
extra clinic will meet growing demand from the University community.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends a yearly flu
vaccine as the first and most important step in protecting against the flu strains that
cause the most illness during the flu season. The vaccine can protect recipients from
getting sick, or make illness milder if it does occur. Flu-like symptoms include fever
(usually high), headache, extreme tiredness, dry cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy
nose, and muscle aches.
