The Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University will host a guest lecture by
Gavin Goffe '10 MBA, senior vice president of MTV Networks, on Nov. 14 at
10 a.m. in Room 404. The lecture, "MTV-Targeting the Next Generation," is free and
open to SU students, staff and faculty.
In his current position, Goffe is responsible for an 86-member department, as well as
supervising managers and directors for each network of the MTV Networks Traffic area,
which includes MTV, MTV 2, MTV U, MTV Tr3es, VH1, VH1 Classic, VH1 Soul,
Nickelodeon, Nicktoons, Nick-at-Nite, TV Land, Noggin, The N, CMT, CMT Pure, Spike,
Comedy Central, Logo and MTV/Comedy/Nick Mobile. Together, these departments
maintain sales of more than $3.5 billion in revenue.
Prior to becoming senior vice president, Goffe served as vice president of commercial
operations. He is a member of the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in
Communications (NAMIC), in addition to serving as a mentor in MTV Networks Huddle
program and Ad Sales Program. Recently, Goffe was listed as one of the most influential
minority members in cable television by Cable Fax magazine.
He holds a bachelor's degree from Fordham University and is a graduate of the NAMIC
Executive Leadership Development Program at Anderson Business School at UCLA. He
is currently enrolled in the iMBA program at the Whitman School. His visit to Whitman
is part of the Whitman Wall Street Speaker Series, which brings to campus experts in a
variety of business fields to share their perspective on current events with SU students.
