The St. Thomas More Foundation will host the 34th annual Fr. Charles Open on Aug. 4 at The Pompey Club. The 18-hole men and women's golf tournament will begin with a 1 p.m. shotgun start.
In addition to a round of golf, participants may attend an 11 a.m. luncheon and a 6 p.m. dinner at The Pompey Club. Fairway refreshments will be served throughout the day. All golfers will be eligible for a variety of prizes and awards, and a silent auction will be held in the clubhouse.
The event is named in honor of long-time SU Catholic Chaplain Fr. Charles Borgononi and is Central New York's longest-running benefit golf tournament. It benefits the St. Thomas More Foundation, which supports the John G. Alibrandi Jr. Catholic Center and St. Thomas More Chapel at SU. More than 4,000 Catholic students at SU and SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry are served by the center.
The entry fee for the Fr. Charles Open is $125 per person. To register for the event, mail entry fees to Rick Ranucci, Fr. Charles Open Event Treasurer, c/o Port and Co., 5730 Commons Park Drive, East Syracuse, N.Y., 13057 or call Ranucci at 449-1200 or the Alibrandi Catholic Center at 478-5959.
