SUArt Galleries this past Monday held the first of three open figure drawing sessions at the
"Michelangelo: The Man and the Myth" exhibition.

A group of community members, including members of Open Figure Drawing (OFD),
participated in the special figure drawing session. The gallery was closed to the public to
allow for a private session in which a model posed mimicking the characters in the sketches
by the Renaissance master himself. Drawing enthusiasts were given time to work from the
masterpiece drawings surrounding the room, as well as the nude model. The sessions are
intimate, and non-artists are invited to participate.

Upcoming sessions are scheduled for Sept. 29 and Oct. 6 from 2-4 p.m. Cost is $10 (cash or
check) payable at the door. An R.S.V.P. to 443-6450 or 475-3400 is strongly recommended
as space is limited for these sessions. Parking is available in the University pay lots.

OFD is a community-based drawing group that gives people of all abilities an opportunity
to draw from an unclothed model. For more information, visit

SUArt Galleries is the largest exhibition venue at Syracuse University for the visual arts.
Located in the Shaffer Art Building, SUArt Galleries was established in 2007 by merging the
Joe and Emily Lowe Art Gallery and the University Art Collection into one entity. The
renovated facility hosts a variety of temporary and permanent exhibitions throughout the
year in its nearly 10,000 square feet of exhibition space. The new department's mission is to
enhance the cultural environment of the University and the Syracuse area through
meaningful educational experiences and encounters with the University's permanent
collection and traveling exhibitions. For more information, visit http://suart.syr.edu.
