The Center for Career Services will host the annual Graduate and Professional School Day on Wednesday, Sept. 24, from 5-7 p.m. on the Quad. Graduate and Professional School Day is an opportunity for undergraduate students from all majors to explore an array of graduate school programs.
This year, more than 100 programs from across the United States will be represented, including Columbia University's School of Journalism, The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice, Duke University's Master's of Engineering Management Program and John Hopkins University's Bloomberg School of Public Health. Graduate and Professional School Day is a chance for students to informally sample the offerings of various graduate programs by speaking with representatives, obtaining literature, and signing up to receive further information from specific programs. Students need not dress formally or bring resumes.
The goal of the event is that "students will take the opportunity to explore graduate programs so that they can make decisions in the future," says Pamela Latham, client services manager in the Center for Career Services. Students, especially sophomores and juniors, are encouraged to participate in Graduate and Professional School Day so they can explore the idea of attending graduate school. The number of participating schools makes it possible for students to compare different programs and assess where their interests lie.
