Syracuse University's Hendricks Chapel will hold a September 11th Observance to mark the seventh anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks against the United States.
The chapel will be open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. for individual prayer and quiet meditation. A lit candle will be placed at the head of the chapel's main aisle during that time.
At 4 p.m., the Student Association on Terrorism and Security Analysis (SATSA) will hold a panel discussion titled "National Security Advice to the New Administration" in the Public Events Room, Room 220, of Eggers Hall. The event is free and open to the public. Parking is available in the University's visitor pay lots.
The panelists will share their advice to the next administration on international and national security issues, considering the changes in the security environment after 9/11. The panel discussion is the kick-off event for a yearlong speaker series on this topic.
Panelists will include Mitchel Wallerstein, dean of the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs; Renee de Nevers, assistant professor of public administration in the Maxwell School; and Miriam Elman, associate professor of political science in the Maxwell School. The panel will be moderated by William Banks, professor of law and public administration and director of the Institute for National Security and Counterterrorism (INSCT).
