In keeping with its continued commitment to providing a quality educational experience in a welcoming environment, Syracuse University will now extend same-sex domestic partner benefits to full-time students.

"Today's announcement of benefits for students' same-sex domestic partners illustrates Syracuse University's on-going efforts to ensure that our campus recognizes and supports the needs of all students," says Anastasia L. Urtz, dean of students.

Same-sex domestic partner benefits offer full-time students the opportunity to access benefits for their same-sex domestic partner similar to those currently available to a student's spouse, including

  • University identification cards, which are required to gain access to campus services such as the library, recreational facilities, and computing resources, and;

  • University housing.

To apply for these benefits, a Student Affirmation of Same-Sex Domestic Partnership form must be completed through the Dean of Students Office, located at 301 Steele Hall. Specific documentation of the domestic partnership required for this application will be kept strictly confidential. For more information about benefits for student same-sex domestic partners, please contact the Dean of Students Office at 443-4424 or the LGBT Resource Center at 443-3983. Information and forms will also be accessible via these offices' websites at http://students.syr.edu/deanofstudents/ and http://students.syr.edu/lgbt/index.html, respectively.
