Caryn Espy, a junior in the
Martin J. Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University, was recently awarded the Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship from the Zonta Club of Syracuse. The scholarship was established to help women pursue leadership positions in business management fields. She is now eligible to compete for the district-level scholarship, which leads to qualification for the international level.
Espy is pursuing a dual major in supply chain and retail management at Whitman. As part of the
Renee Crown University Honors Program, Espy has spent her junior year studying in Hong Kong, where she is researching the economic relationship between the United States and China. Espy is active in both the University and local community; she is a member of the Phi Eta Sigma National Honors Society, the Franklin Student Group, and Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE). She also co-founded and currently serves as executive vice president for the Syracuse chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
"Caryn not only demonstrates excellence within the classroom but is also a distinguished leader within the community," says Melvin Stith, dean of the Whitman School. "We're proud to have a student such as Caryn contributing to the Whitman family, and we congratulate her on these well-deserved honors."
