On Friday, April 25, students from three Syracuse City School District schools will have the opportunity to experience a day in the life of a college student by visiting various locations at Syracuse University in a program hosted by Balancing the Books. Balancing the Books is a community service tutoring program run by the
Mary Ann Shaw Center for Public and Community Service. Balancing the Books members are students from the
Whitman School of Management.
Students from Huntington School, Bellevue Middle School Academy and Henninger High School will arrive on the SU campus at 9:30 a.m., where they will be welcomed by Whitman School assistant professor Kira Reed. Reed will teach a mock lesson in business to the students beginning at 10 a.m. in the Shaffer Art Building's Shemin Auditorium.
At 10:30 a.m., the students will participate in a science experiment led by Sam Sampere, physics department lab manager, in Room 500 of the Hall of Languages.
At 11 a.m., the SU women's basketball team will host lunch for the students in Shaw Dining Hall.
After lunch, the students will take a tour of Manley Field House.
