Syracuse University's
Department of Public Safety (DPS) will recognize the achievement and dedication of several of its members at an award ceremony on Friday, April 25, from 5-7 p.m. at Drumlins Country Club. DPS will also recognize the efforts and support of several University community members.
Department members receiving awards are: Officer Fred Antinarella, Officer Edward Babcock, Community Safety Officer Stacey Emmons, Cpl. Charles Fiesinger, Crime Prevention Manager Cleveland McCurty, Officer Jeffrey Mertell, Sgt. Stanley Prue, and Orange Watch Plus Cpl. Joseph Shanley.
Community members receiving recognition are: Rami Badawy, director of the Office of Judicial Affairs; William Longcore, associate director of the Office of Residence Life; Jeremy Patterson, former data systems administrator for the Whitman School of Management; Marc Donabella, administrative specialist with Trademark Activities; and Kenneth Sobotka, a custodian with Housing and Food Services Maintenance.
Badawy and Longcore are being honored for their service and commitment to student safety at SU as well as their assistance and collaboration with DPS. Donabella is being recognized for assisting DPS in the arrest of an on-campus bike thief, Patterson for assisting in an investigation that resulted in the arrest of an on-campus computer thief, and Sobotka for being instrumental in the capture and arrest of an intruder in DellPlain Hall.
