An abandoned gas station at 2301 E. Colvin St. in Syracuse was recently covered in fabric panels through the efforts of the International Fiber Collaborative (IFC), led by Jennifer Marsh, a graduate student in sculpture in SU's College of Visual and Performing Arts. The IFC's goal is to provide an opportunity for people who enjoy working with fiber arts to come together and express their concern about the world's dependency on oil.
For the gas station project, known as the World Reclamation Art Project (WRAP), participants crocheted, knitted, stitched, patched, or collaged three-foot square fiber panels that expressed their concern about this topic. A reception will be held at the site on Saturday, May 3, from 5-8 p.m.
